Changes to the Community Benefit Fund
From 1 July 2015, as a result of the Community Benefit Levy contributions from SKYCITY and Lasseter’s casinos, four rounds of small and major community organisation grants will be conducted. Applications for these grants will be accepted all year round, with the closing date of one round marking the opening date for the next round. The guidelines for Small Grants and Major Community Grants have been updated and can be accessed below. A new category of grant funding has also been introduced 'Quick Grants'. This category of funding will only be available if an application cannot be lodged in a Small Grant or Major Community Grant round.
The maximum limit for Major Community Grants remains at $200 000 while the limit for Small Grants has been increased to $10 000.
The Community Benefit Fund was established to provide funding support for gambling-related research and amelioration programs concerned with problem gambling, as well as Community Benefit grants which provide assistance for general community development and improvement purposes,
The fund receives money from levies imposed on the operation of electronic gaming machines operated by licensed hotels throughout the Northern Territory.
